Welcome to my corner of the internet!
Hi, I’m Alan Gurling, and welcome to my photography portfolio and blog. Photography has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember, and it all started when I was about five years old. I discovered an old Nikon camera that my dad used while stationed in Antarctica, and that camera sparked a lifelong fascination with capturing the world through a lens.
I’ve always been inspired by the striking photography in National Geographic—whether candid, journalistic, nature, or black-and-white, these images told powerful stories. Today, I carry that inspiration into my work, combining mirrorless and smartphone photography to create images that share a glimpse of how I see the world.
What You’ll Find Here
On this site, I’ll be sharing my photography portfolio, capturing moments both big and small, and exploring the art of visual storytelling. My style leans toward darker, atmospheric tones—often influenced by my love for metal music—but my goal is to evoke emotion and connection, no matter the subject.
You’ll also find a blog where I share insights into my creative process, photography tips, and gear recommendations, especially for those who love mobile photography as much as I do.

While this site focuses on my photography, I have two other passions that I’m excited to share through dedicated platforms:
- Tech Enthusiast? Head over to UKTech.blog, where I dive deep into gadgets, software, and gaming. It’s the place where I break down the latest tech and share my experiences with cutting-edge tools, including those I use in photography.
- Music Lover? Check out FYRTEK.com for all things metal and rock. From band reviews and album recommendations to concert experiences, FYRTEK is where I explore the music that fuels my creativity and connects me to the metal scene.
Thank you for visiting! Feel free to browse my portfolio, read the blog, or reach out through the Contact page. If you share a love for photography, tech, or music, I’d love to connect with you across all of my platforms.
